How Americans Feel About Paying Accident Response Fees

How Americans Feel About Paying Accident Response Fees

Each week I read many insurance and non insurance industry publications. The
most recent monthly edition of American Agent & Broker, I was reminded of
the City of Sacramento politician’s attempt to charge auto accident
participants a fee for medical/crash services.

According to a new study from the Insurance Research Council (IRC), 68% of
adults surveyed disagree with the idea of local governments charging these
fees. It did not matter to those surveyed whether or not their insurance
company paid or they paid for the fees, the answer was still NO.

Most interesting about another demographic group felt differently. IRC found
that individuals between 18 and 24 years old agreed with the imposition of
these fees.

Fortunately for all of us, the politicians changed their minds and
terminated the fee scheme.
